MOTU Sponsors Autism Cook Islands

MOTU isn’t just a resort, it’s a community enterprise for supporting Rarotonga, its people and its future. That’s why we’re proud to be sponsoring Autism Cook Islands fourth annual Air NZ Te Kara Run, taking place on 24th October in Rarotonga.

This year’s event is set to bring together more than 1,000 participants — families, friends, and supporters — all walking or running in celebration of our autistic community. The day is about much more than fitness. It’s about raising awareness, promoting acceptance, and ensuring that autistic individuals and their families feel seen, supported, and included.

Te Kara Run by Autism Cook Islands Funds raised from the run will go directly to Autism Cook Islands, helping them continue their vital work across Rarotonga. From creating safe spaces for children and families to developing programmes that build understanding and confidence, their efforts are a lifeline for many.

For us at MOTU, sponsoring the Te Kara Run reflects a wider commitment. Our ethos has always been about sustainability — not only in how we care for our environment, but in how we nurture the social fabric of our island. As a boutique resort, MOTU has always been closely tied to its community. From championing local artists and craftspeople, to supporting Pacific medical students, and helping to fund environmental initiatives on Rarotonga, every stay at our resort directly contributes to projects that make a lasting difference.

And to our guests —  meitaki ma’ata. Every stay at MOTU contributes directly to our community and we thank you for your ongoing patronage.

Good luck to everyone taking part in the run!
